Why get a wood burning stove?
A wood burning stove is a heating appliance usually made of cast iron or steal. As well as burning wood, many stoves can also burn other solid fuels, including coal. With many different styles available, these stoves look great in period properties as well as modern homes.
How much heat will it produce?
Many people are surprised with the heat produced by a wood burning stove. The right type of stove can heat your room quickly to a warm, cosy level even on the coldest days, without making it too hot. In many homes, the heat also circulates though to other rooms. We will help you choose the best stove for your home.
The stove itself also heats up while in use, and remains warm, radiating heat even after a fire dies down - hours of warmth can be generated from just a few small logs.
Can it save me money?
A wood burning stove is much more efficient than an open fireplace - the stove will produce more heat, with fewer logs. The best wood for burning is dry, hard wood which will give the most heat and burn most efficiently.
Compared to expensive gas or electricity, wood can be a very cost-effective fuel, particularly if you are able to source inexpensive reclaimed wood, which otherwise would have been thrown away.
Some wood burning stoves also use a system of circulating smoke and gasses within the stove to be burnt again, which creates more heat and reduces emissions.
Installing a wood burning stove
If you would like to have a wood burning stove installed, the first step is to have a site visit, when one of our engineers will inspect the planned location for the stove. Wood burning stoves are usually installed in a fireplace with a chimney, but may be able to go elsewhere with a specialist flue. We will discuss all your needs and requirements with you, offering assistance and guidance throughout the process.
Once everything is agreed, we'll arrange a convenient date for the work to begin. All of our engineers are experienced, with excellent standards, and are registered with HETAS. We provide a full service, and we take care to provide you with a top quality installation with no hidden costs. We also offer ongoing maintenance and servicing of wood burning appliances.
